Lt Gen Khadka to be PM's security advisor: Minister
Kantipur Report
KATHMANDU, June 6 - The government is planning to appoint Lt General Kul Bahadur Khadka the advisor of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal for security, Defense Minister Bidya Devi Bhandari said Saturday.
She added the Maoist-declared Acting Army Chief could be placed in the Prime Minister’s security committee to put an end to the Nepal Army (NA) dispute.
The statement comes a week after Bhandari declared to take action against Khadka.
Earlier this week, Khadka had proposed the Prime Minister to appoint him National Security Advisor or Coordinator of the National Security Council.
Khadka was appointed the Acting Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) by Unified CPN (Maoist)-led government after sacking the then CoAS Rookmangad Katawal.
The decision was later overruled by the President which led the Maoist to step down from the government.
