KATHMANDU: Around 20 Constituent Assembly members will visit Dang district to find out whether there is any Indian encroachment, as reported in a section of the media.

The team will leave here on Monday.

Amik Sherchan, chairman of the National Interest Preservation Committee (NIPC) of the Constituent Assembly, told The Hindu that the findings of the team would be discussed to resolve the issue diplomatically.

Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala recently said there was no official report of encroachment and displacement of Nepalis. Indian Ambassador Rakesh Sood also denied the reports about encroachment.

But Mr. Sherchan, a Maoist leader, is convinced that around 3,000 people have been displaced. He, however, refused to comment on what Ms. Koirala and Mr. Sood had said.

Three police posts were opened on Sunday along the Nepal-India border.
