The inner rife in the United Marxist Leninist Party has attained a new high.

Differences between Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and K.P. Sharma Oli who represented the same camp until the other day, have now been at loggerheads over their choice of UML leaders to be represented in the government.

Thus the UML top-leadership comprising of Jhala Nath Khanal, Mr. Oli and PM Nepal posses separate lists with differing names of the UML leaders to be sent by the party in government.

With the three leaders appearing with three different lists and the continued differences over the names meant that the UML Steering Committee and Central Committee meeting held on Monday, June 8, 2009, ended inclusive yet the meeting decided to sit for another session Tuesday, June 9, 2009.

“We have agreed to disagree over the names but have agreed yet to meet once again”, said one UML insider.

“Madhav Kumar Nepal who failed to convince his own party leaders, appealed Nepali Congress President Koirala to convince his own party colleagues”, say reports.

A UML leader close to Mr. Khanal told reporters that the Prime Minister had made a telephone call to Girija Prasad Koirala urging him to convince the UML leadership.

Koirala later made a telephone call to UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal and urged him to support Mr. Madhav Nepal to form a strong government at the earliest.

“Koirala urged Khanal to send senior UML leaders in the cabinet to make the government a stronger and competent one”, reports reveal.

“In reply said Khanal we have sent much senior leaders than the NC has in the government”, reports add.

To conclude, Mr. K.P. Sharma Oli also refused to participate in the government.
