Oli confers with Koirala, RJP chairman before heading off to India

CPN (UML) leader K.P Sharma Oli met Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala and Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) chairman Surya Bahadur Thapa before he left for New Delhi Saturday.

Both the meetings dwelled on the army chief issue and ways to keep the new ruling coalition intact, it is learnt.

In the meeting with Koirala held at the latter's residence, Maharajgunj, Oli emphasised that the cabinet be given full shape as soon as possible since the delay in doing so is sending a bad message to the general public as well as the international community.

According to NC leader Krishna Sitaula, who was present at the meeting, Koirala mentioned that the NC had fully cooperated in this regard by sending its team to the government and that the responsibility to form a full-fledged cabinet now rests with the Prime Minister.

Oli, who is one of the main architects of the new coalition, is known to have stressed that army chief Rookmangud Katawal should be allowed to serve full term.

After his meeting with Koirala, Oli also met RJP chairman Thapa, discussing the current coalition's sustainability.

Oli, who left for New Delhi at 3:30 this afternoon, will meet Indian political leaders apart from undergoing health check-up, it is learnt. nepalnews.com June 13 09
