KATHMANDU, May 27 - Seven political parties represented in the Constituent Assembly (CA) have decided to stay in opposition.

Although 22 among the 24 parties in the CA have supported the Nepali Congress-UML alliance government, Unified CPN (Maoist), CPN-United, Rastriya Janamorcha, Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party (NMKP), Nepal Sadbhawana Party-Anandidevi (NSP-A), Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) and Nepal Janata Dal will stay in the opposition.

A day after Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal asked the Maoists to join the government in his address to the nation on Tuesday, the seven parties announced to stay in opposition at the meeting of the taskforce consultation committee.

Rastriya Janamorcha, NMKP, NSP-A and RPP-N are supporters of the government.
